Service is King!
How did you become a part of the FRIMO team?
“Well, I’m a 30-year veteran of the automotive industry with a strong background in tooling and engineering. I come from the Tier 1 side of the business, and have been working with FRIMO as a supplier for the last 20+ years. During my career, I spent 6 years in Europe working for a Tier 1. I continued to work with FRIMO as a primary supplier, and as time passed, I became increasingly interested in getting into the tooling side of the business. My transition to FRIMO in April was made relatively easy by my previous interaction with many of the employees here.”
What goals have you set as the Service Sales Manager?
“My main goals are to improve our sales by increasing our spare parts and service opportunities, improve response times to our customer base, and grow both the Service and Spare Parts teams to meet the ever-increasing business demands.”
What does your typical work day involve?
“One of the most important aspects of my job is being a dependable contact to our customers, which often means a lot of time on the phone at all hours of the day. My other responsibilities include improving customer relations, striving to increase sales, and helping manage satisfying our customer’s requirements.”
Running the Service Department can mean dealing with frustrated and sometimes angry customers. How do you keep a positive mindset in a difficult situation?
“Any service department has to be able to deal with a number of different situations, some of those certainly being considered emergencies. My focus is on minimizing customer frustration, meaning getting answers and on-site help out as quickly as possible, which can sometimes be a challenge with our wide customer base. I really strive to respond as quickly as possible.”
Running the Service Department can also mean having a hectic and last-minute schedule. What do you do to make sure you get enough personal time?
“Setting priorities and planning out work schedules ahead of time is really the key to protecting my time away from work.”
When you aren’t working, do you have any hobbies?
“I love to play golf, but my golf game will never be where it should be! Anyone who works in the automotive industry will understand that. I also enjoy spending time with my family. I have 5 grown children, and now my main focus is on spending time with my wife.”
What does FRIMO mean to you?
“It means working for a solid-based, global company that will allow me to finish my career on a positive note.”
