“Innovation needs creativity – multiplying knowledge instead of adding” – under this slogan more than 60 considerable participants of the plastics industry got together in Hamburg on 17th and 18th June to discuss current developments and perspectives in infrared welding, on the initiative of FRIMO.
With experts from Audi, BMW, VW as well as numerous participants of Tier 1 suppliers such as Carcoustics, Faurecia, Fehrer, IAC, Johnson Controls, Mann & Hummel, Magna, MöllerTech, Rieter und Röchling the automotive industry was highly represented. With companies like Brita, Hauni, Rehau, and Stihl there were also specialists on-site for various plastics applications where processes of joining are required.
A common view over the complete value chain, demonstrations of the current technologies, exchange of best practices, updates of the latest developments and scientific expertise as well as future perspectives connected with the initiation of common projects, were the aims of this event.
Accompanied by presentations of producers and appliers the two-days- INFRARED conference offered a wide variety of information about the handling with this promising technology.
Compared with established welding procedures the infrared welding fulfills various requirements of plastics joining connections notably and gains at the time more and more importance. For many applications this procedure gives an interesting alternative, e.g. for interior component parts, oil and air bearing components likewise for security-relevant construction groups. Most important advantage: free of particles welding, extremely high stability, possibility to describe complex 3D geometries and the welding of different materials, even high performance plastics.
The branch meeting was completed by technology live presentations at the FRIMO location in Hamburg. The new FRIMO JoinLine series and laboratory plants JoinLine IR-H “High speed” and JoinLine IR-V were the new plants presented. More over robot based solutions as well as material and welding trials and also further joining processes were demonstrated.
The resume of the event turned out very positively altogether. Lots of themes and approaches of expert talks are now followed up intensively in day-to-day business. Thanks a lot in this context to our referents and participants who contributed very much to the success of the first INFRARED conference.
